Inspiration / design directions

Custom forged wheel design directions.

Eight starting points for a fully custom forged aluminum or magnesium set, organised by car type and style. Each is a direction, not a catalog product: the final design is drawn for your vehicle, from one pair.

How to use this page

A direction is where
the conversation starts.

The directions below describe recurring combinations of spoke geometry, size and finish that suit particular kinds of cars. Sizes are typical examples only; offset, width, PCD, center bore, load rating and brake clearance are confirmed against your vehicle before a drawing is issued. VEXORA does not keep a stock catalog or ready-to-ship inventory. Every wheel is engineered and forged to your vehicle, dimensions and finish.

Pick the direction closest to your idea, then tell us what you would change. See how to spec custom forged wheels for the full brief.

01 / Performance coupe and sedan

Deep-concave staggered.

Deep-concave staggered custom forged wheel on a dark blue performance coupe
Design rendering
AspectDirection
Vehicle fitHigh-performance coupes and sedans, e.g. BMW M-type cars, with wide rear tires
Spoke geometrySplit or twin five-spoke, deep concave rear, slightly shallower front
Typical sizes20x10 to 20x11.5 rear with 19 or 20 in fronts; staggered widths
Finish paletteSatin black, gunmetal, deep blue or body-matched tones
MaterialForged aluminum monoblock; magnesium for track-focused builds

Concave depth grows with width and lower offset, so rear wheels typically show more profile than fronts. Spoke backs are shaped to clear big brake calipers.

Forged aluminum is the usual choice; magnesium suits owners chasing every gram. Start a brief for this direction.

02 / Track-focused sports car

Lightweight magnesium track look.

Design rendering
AspectDirection
Vehicle fitTrack-oriented sports cars, e.g. Porsche GT-type models, often center-lock or high-load fitments confirmed per car
Spoke geometryThin, open spokes with deep back-side pocketing; maximum brake visibility
Typical sizes20 in front / 21 in rear or square 19/20 track sets
Finish paletteSatin bronze, mirror-bright silver, gold accents on bold paint, satin black
MaterialForged magnesium monoblock (AZ80/ZK60-type), with full protective system

Here weight is the design brief: unsprung and rotating mass drive every decision. Load requirement and brake clearance are verified carefully. See custom forged magnesium wheels.

Magnesium first; aluminum where budget or climate argue for it. Start a brief for this direction.

03 / Touring estate and allroad

Brushed and machined two-tone.

Design rendering
AspectDirection
Vehicle fitTouring estates, allroad and grand-touring models
Spoke geometryMulti-spoke or Y-spoke with a moderate concave face
Typical sizes20x9 to 21x9.5, square fitment
Finish paletteBrushed black or smoke with machined bright faces; colored hardware accents
MaterialForged aluminum, monoblock

Two-tone finishes emphasise spoke edges and work well at larger diameters. Durable clear coat over the machined face suits year-round use. More in finishes.

Forged aluminum recommended for everyday durability. Start a brief for this direction.

04 / Classic and heritage

Classic multi-spoke and mesh.

Classic silver mesh forged wheel with polished lip on a white coupe
Design rendering
AspectDirection
Vehicle fitModern-classics, sedans and coupes where a period look suits the car
Spoke geometryCross-spoke mesh or fine multi-spoke, often with a stepped lip
Typical sizes18 to 19 in, sometimes chosen to clear larger brakes with thin spokes
Finish paletteSilver, gold, bright polished lips, colored center caps
MaterialForged aluminum; 2- or 3-piece for deep stepped lips

Mesh designs use many small windows, so they involve long machining programs. Multi-piece construction allows a polished lip. See 2-piece vs 3-piece wheels.

Forged aluminum, monoblock or multi-piece. Start a brief for this direction.

05 / Bold paint

Gold or bronze accent.

Bronze forged wheels on a green sports coupe
Design rendering
AspectDirection
Vehicle fitCars in strong blue, white, green or black paint
Spoke geometryAny; works especially with open five- and six-spoke designs
Typical sizesPer vehicle, usually 19 to 21 in
Finish paletteSatin gold, champagne, bronze, tinted clear over brushed metal
MaterialAluminum or magnesium; on magnesium, painted metallic tones keep the protective system intact

Gold and bronze shift with gloss level and lighting, so approve a physical or photographic reference as well as a color name.

Either material; choose by weight priority and budget. Start a brief for this direction.

06 / Luxury sedan

Bright silver and polished elegance.

Design rendering
AspectDirection
Vehicle fitLuxury sedans and large coupes
Spoke geometryFine multi-spoke or slim split spokes, flat to mild concave
Typical sizes20 to 22 in, square or mild stagger
Finish paletteBright silver, polished, high-gloss clear; chrome-look effects reviewed per project
MaterialForged aluminum

Polished and bright finishes need careful clear coating and gentle care. Load rating matters on heavy sedans.

Forged aluminum recommended. Start a brief for this direction.

07 / Electric vehicles

Minimalist monoblock for EVs.

Minimalist dark monoblock forged wheels on a white electric sedan
Design rendering
AspectDirection
Vehicle fitElectric sedans and SUVs, e.g. Zeekr, Xiaomi, Li Auto-type models
Spoke geometryClean, smooth faces; wide or covered spokes for a calm, aerodynamic look
Typical sizes19 to 21 in; load rating checked against high vehicle weight
Finish paletteSatin graphite, gloss black, body-color or two-tone
MaterialForged aluminum monoblock; magnesium where range and handling justify it

EVs are heavy, so load rating sets the minimum material. Reducing wheel mass helps ride and handling; aerodynamic faces are a styling choice reviewed per design.

Forged aluminum usually; magnesium as a premium option. Start a brief for this direction.

08 / Supercar

Sculpted directional.

Sculpted directional forged wheel in satin black on a red supercar
Design rendering
AspectDirection
Vehicle fitMid-engine and high-performance supercars
Spoke geometryDirectional, mirrored left and right, sculpted 3D spokes
Typical sizes20 front / 21 rear typical; per vehicle
Finish paletteSatin black, carbon-tone grey, brushed titanium-look, accent colors
MaterialForged magnesium or aluminum monoblock

Directional designs need separate left/right programs and careful brake clearance. See CNC machining of forged wheels.

Magnesium for weight, aluminum for value. Start a brief for this direction.

Bring your direction
into a brief.

Every VEXORA set is made to order, and custom orders start from a single pair. MOQ: 1 pair (2 wheels).

Production typically takes approximately 20 days once the specification, drawings and finish are approved, confirmed per project. Shipping time varies by destination country. Where DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) is available for your country, orders ship DDP: import duties and taxes are handled and the wheels are delivered to your door.
